Effects of d-amphetamine on PPI in healthy volunteers

Prepulse inhibition of the startle response (PPI) has been reported to be decreased in people with schizophrenia and in rats treated with (+)-amphetamine (dextroamphetamine or d- amphetamine). However, the effects of amphetamine on PPI in healthy people is controversial (Hutchison and Swift, 1999; Swerdlow et al., 2003; Swerdlow et al., 2002).
